Our theme for the year is “DESIGNS & SPACES”, since we have been involved in inspiring, creative and fun projects around the world with brilliant people, and we’d really like to show you some of the results.
Dear Friends, here’s our March story of a “DESIGNS & SPACES” project
The sun is shining here in Fiskars and one can feel that the spring is closer every day… Last month we were still buried in snow and busy with the Stockholm furniture fair (thank you for visiting us there!), and April is going to be the SALONE Milan month: therefore now is the perfect time to tell you about a real “DESIGNS & SPACES” collaboration in 2013-2015 with the Museum of Finnish Architecture and OOPEAA Office for Peripheral Architecture. This project was executed first at the Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale for Urbanism and Architecture in China in 2013-2014; then the Architectural Biennale of Venice, Italy in 2014 and finally last year in Helsinki, Finland.
OOPEAA created the installation “Re-Creation”, which was based on Anssi Lassila’s concept of universal space, giving it two different forms in two different cultural contexts, one in Finland, the other in China. The installation acquired its final form as a team effort – Nikari was participating in the Finnish part, which differs noticeably from the Chinese space in material, technique and vocabulary.
